During the past three years, Lebanon recorded the highest number of arrests on charges of dealing with Israel, as the Lebanese security forces arrested 185 people suspected of dealing with Israel since the start of the economic collapse in 2019. “Since 2019, the security forces have arrested 185 people, including 182 who were recruited after the start of the economic crisis,” the French Press Agency quoted a security official as saying. 165 of them were referred to the judiciary, including 25 who were sentenced. Among those arrested were “two people who sent e-mails to the Mossad asking to work with him.”
Another security official told the agency, “This is the first time we are witnessing arrests in this way on charges of employment.”
