Prince Mohammed bin Salman: It will be a global tourism platform on the Red Sea
Yesterday (Monday), Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Crown Prince, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “NEOM” announced the development of “Sandala” Island, as the first destination for luxury marine tourism, and one of the most important projects in support of the national strategy for tourism. He added that the island was designed to be the main gateway for cruises in the Red Sea, and to provide one of the most important global experiences in hospitality and entertainment, revealing that the island is expected to start receiving visitors in early 2024.
The Saudi crown prince said: “The project represents an important moment that reflects the acceleration of development in NEOM, and embodies a major step in achieving our tourism ambitions within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030.” He added: “Sandala will be the first luxury sea destination on the Red Sea in NEOM, and it will also be a gateway to global tourism in The Red Sea and the region, characterized by a unique location and charming nature, qualify it to be a platform for luxury marine tourism in the world.
The island of “Sandala” is located on a total area of approximately 840,000 square meters, and it is one of a group of islands that will be developed in “NEOM” according to different visions and designs that distinguish each island from the other, while the Sandala Island project is planned to create 3,500 jobs that support the tourism sector. and hospitality and entertainment services. The project will include 86 marine berths, 413 hotel rooms of the highest international standards, in addition to 333 high-end hotel apartments.
