Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, praised the great positive momentum witnessed by Saudi-Iraqi relations during the current period, thanks to the directives of the leaderships of the two countries.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan said during a press conference he held in Baghdad with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Muhammad Hussein, that “Saudi Arabia and Iraq are working closely to continue the momentum in bilateral relations, and to deepen coordination and cooperation, especially in the economic and development aspect.” Prince Faisal renewed his country’s support for all efforts made by the Iraqi government aimed at promoting prosperity and stability in Iraq, and seeking to achieve sustainability in growth and prosperity for Iraq and its brotherly people, pointing to the importance of activating the Joint Coordination Council.
During his visit to Baghdad, the Saudi Foreign Minister held separate meetings with the President of the Iraqi Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal, and with the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and the Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, as well as with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Fouad Muhammad Hussein, where Prince Faisal bin Farhan conveyed to the presidents The three and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, greetings and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, and their wishes for Iraq of progress and continued progress and development. During the meetings, they reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in all fields.
Fuad Hussein stressed that his country is looking forward to obtaining electricity by connecting it to the Saudi energy system and the Gulf countries, calling on Saudi investment companies to work in Iraq. Hussein revealed “continued cooperation in the security aspect and the fight against drugs with Saudi Arabia.” Hussein added that “there is cooperation with the Saudi side regarding trade exchange,” pointing out that “Iraq plays a role in easing tensions in the region.” Hussein mentioned that “the file of the Coordinating Council between Iraq and Saudi Arabia” was discussed.
