Al-Farhan and Blinken discussed regional and international developments on the sidelines of the Munich Conference
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan met yesterday with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
During the meeting, they reviewed the strategic and historical relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, and ways to strengthen and support them in various fields of cooperation and joint coordination. During the meeting, the two sides also discussed many issues and developments on the regional and international arenas, foremost of which is the strengthening of security and stability in the Middle East region, and the efforts to lay the foundations for peace made by the two friendly countries in the region and the world.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance joint efforts to stop the Houthi terrorist militia’s violations that are disrupting the political solution in Yemen. The two sides also discussed the importance of strengthening joint efforts to stop the Houthis’ continuous attacks on civilian and economic facilities, and their threat to international navigation.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Iranian nuclear program and the international negotiations in this regard, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international developments and the efforts made in their regard.
The Saudi Foreign Minister said, during a speech at the conference, that if the ongoing negotiations in Vienna with Iran succeeded in reviving the nuclear agreement, this should be “the starting point, not the end,” pointing to the need to complete negotiations with Iran to address its negative role in the region, pointing out To its continued support for the Houthi militia, which refuses to sit at the dialogue table and a cease-fire, because of the “continued flow of weapons and ballistic missiles to it.”
