Republican victory … but “no red wave”

The Republican Party succeeded in achieving remarkable gains in the mid-term polls, and came close to controlling the House of Representatives, while uncertainty remained about the winning party in the Senate. While these gains remained less than expected, former US President Donald Trump hailed a “very big victory”, even though President Joe Biden’s party managed to prevent the “giant red wave” on which his predecessor in the White House was counting.
