New sanctions target “Putin’s military machine”

The leaders of the “Group of Seven” countries announced during the opening of their summit in the southern German province of Bavaria, at a summit mostly devoted to the ongoing war in Ukraine, to expand the scope of sanctions imposed on Russia, calling for unity.
US President Joe Biden confirmed in a tweet that the group “will announce a ban on Russian gold, the main source of export, which would deprive Russia of billions of dollars,” adding that this measure would strike “the heart of the war machine” of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
