The Mudar team added a sixth title to its record in the Saudi Elite Handball Championships, after it came out tied in its last meeting against Al-Huda team with a score of 28-28, in one of the strongest and most competitive matches of the season.
Mudar entered the match with two chances to draw or win in order to win the title after winning Al-Nour and Al-Khaleej, respectively, but he faced a fierce team that was seeking to achieve the first major championships in his career in this game.
The victory achieved by Al-Nour at the expense of Al-Khaleej opened the opportunity for Al-Huda team to be crowned by winning any result, while the pressure increased on Mudar, who was suffering from the absence of a number of his most prominent stars, led by Amin Bannour, but his players, led by veteran Hassan Al-Janabi, endured all the difficulties and injuries. Which a number of their colleagues suffered and succeeded in adjusting the result, whether in the first half, which also ended in a draw 13-13, or the second half, which witnessed great excitement.
The large fans of Mudar honored their team with the championship that saved its season, although its importance is not comparable to winning the league championship that went to the Gulf, as well as the cup.
Hassan Al-Janabi, the leader of Mudar, told Asharq Al-Awsat: We achieved the tournament to prove that Mudar’s hand cannot be broken behind which is the large and loyal audience.
He added: Yes, this season ended, but the most important thing is that we did not lose sight of the championships, and we will have a strong return in the championships next season, with all the circumstances that we suffer from, which are not hidden from anyone, «but with determination and persistence, Mudar will remain a champion in all cases».
It is noteworthy that Mudar will not participate in the next version of the World Championship “Super Globe”, as he won the third league ranking, where the Gulf and Al-Nour teams will participate.
