Mai Selim: I am afraid of the audience’s reaction to me in Ramadan

Jordanian actress Mai Selim is participating in the Ramadan 2022 drama season with two works; The first is Egyptian and the other is Jordanian, and Selim revealed that she had finished filming her role in the Jordanian series “A Distance from Love”, which revolves in a social framework about the problems of the Arab family and marriage. The series is directed by Hossam Hijjawi, with the participation of the Egyptian artist Mona Abdel Ghani and a number of Arab artists from the Gulf, Iraq, Jordan and Syria.
Selim expressed her happiness at its spread in Arab drama, at last, especially after her participation last year in the Saudi series “Peace” with the Egyptian artist Ahmed Eid. Her participation in various Arab works gives her diversity and gains her a new audience.
In addition to her participation in the Jordanian social series “A Distance from Love”, Selim participates in the series “Donia Tania” with the Egyptian artist Laila Elwi, where she appears as her sister in the work that will be shown in Ramadan 2022, and in contrast to her role in the Jordanian work, Mai appears with an evil character in “A second world”: “The oldest evil character suffering from psychological disorders, and although I presented evil with a large number of my works, this character required preparations of a special kind and a great psychological rehabilitation to embody it with great perfection.”
Although she was happy to work with the Egyptian actress Laila Elwi for the second time in Ramadan after “She and Da Vinci” six years ago, she is very afraid of the audience’s lack of sympathy for her character in the series, because of the nature of the evil that she appears in the course of the work, unlike the role of “Rahil” that she presented in The story “Make Yourself Dead” in the series “My Share and Your Division”, where the character achieved remarkable success, and was praised by the audience and critics because it is a complex character, and it was not presented before, and won the admiration and satisfaction of people for the feelings and feelings it contained, as she put it.
Selim revealed her contract to star in one of the stories of the series “A lawyer himself” by Lebanese director Assad Fooladkar, who is working on presenting a series of 10 stories, and the events of each story revolve in one episode. Written by Amr Mahmoud Yassin and directed by Muhammad Al-Khubari, she denies her voracious search for this term, “The championship does not concern me, and the most important thing I am looking for is excellence and providing content worthy of the Arab family, for personal access to people is the specific championship.”
And about her participation, the Egyptian artist Mohamed Saad, in the show “Lambi in the Pre-Islamic era,” she says: “There is a special chemistry between us, and great agreement. I worked with him in cinema through the movie (Mohamed Hussein) and more than one theatrical work. Successful, praised and interacted with the Saudi public during the Riyadh season.”
She revealed her quest to return to singing by releasing a new song during the summer season of this year.
Selim expressed her happiness to be honored by the “International Conference on Excellence and Quality” in its ninth session, which was held in Cairo a few days ago, for her role in the series “Meat deer”, which she presented in Ramadan 2021 with the Egyptian artist Ghada Abdel Razek.
Although Selim presented the role of the popular girl in more than one work, she does not prefer to limit her to this role, and she seeks diversity, according to her description.
