Kuwait received from the Iraqi government a shipment of property belonging to Kuwait that had been seized by the former Iraqi regime, and this batch consisted of 738 boxes containing an (emiri sword) dating back to the era of the country’s former emir, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and two copies of the Holy Qur’an, in addition to Media materials belonging to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.
Yesterday (Monday), the Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab World Affairs, Minister Plenipotentiary Nasser Al-Qahtani, expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s tireless efforts towards Kuwaiti property, stressing the importance of continuing efforts to retrieve Kuwaiti property, especially the archives of the Amiri Diwan, the Crown Prince’s Diwan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Al-Qahtani said, in a statement carried by the Kuwait News Agency, that Kuwait had received from the Iraqi side a batch of Kuwaiti property that was recently found in Iraq, and which the former regime seized during the period of the Iraqi invasion of the State of Kuwait. He also indicated that this batch consisted of 738 boxes containing media materials belonging to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, an Amiri sword dating back to the era of the country’s former Emir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and two copies of the Holy Qur’an.
Al-Qahtani said, “In this context, we urge the brothers in Iraq to finalize the outstanding issues between the two sides, foremost of which is the file of Kuwaiti prisoners and missing persons, by accelerating the pace of work to reveal the fate of these prisoners and missing persons; Because this file is of great importance to the Kuwaiti people.”
For his part, the Iraqi Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Dr. Qahtan Al-Janabi, said in a similar statement that the government of Iraq seeks to return all Kuwaiti property to Kuwait, adding, “We have made great strides in this field, and we will spare no effort to end this file.” Return all property.
Al-Janabi continued, “We arrived in the State of Kuwait the day before yesterday, to deliver a new shipment of Kuwaiti property in a private plane; We carried with us 738 boxes containing various books, magazines, microfilms and things belonging to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information and the Kuwaiti radio, in addition to an Amiri sword dating back to the era of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and two copies of the Noble Qur’an.”
He stressed the continuation of work to restore relations to normal between Iraq and Kuwait and to end all outstanding issues, adding, “This is the normal situation for the fraternal brothers in the Arab countries,” expressing aspiration for more cooperation and development of relations between the two countries. ?
In turn, the commissioned assistant undersecretary for the broadcasting sector, Dr. Youssef Al-Sari, said in a similar statement that today witnessed the handover of many state holdings and the media aspect, including radio and television archives and some manuscripts, indicating that efforts were made to sort the contents that were delivered.
