Damascus “relies on the Arabs” to solve the oil derivatives crisis
Turkey has worked to restore control over the city of Afrin in the countryside of Aleppo governorate, after the fighting between the factions in its areas of control, and the subsequent withdrawal of its forces and the control of the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” over the area.
Turkish vehicles toured the streets of the city of Afrin in light of the extensive spread of “Tahrir al-Sham” fighters there, and Turkish special forces deployed at joint checkpoints with this group, formerly known as “Jabhat al-Nusra”, at the city’s entrances.
“Tahrir al-Sham” extracted by force a final agreement with its opponents, allowing it to establish a single civil administration that includes all what the opposition calls “liberated areas” in northern Syria, apparently with a green light from Turkey.
On the other hand, with the approach of winter, the Syrians’ concerns renewed about a season that would be more difficult than the one that preceded it, especially that the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Bassam Tohme stated that it is not possible to provide a solution to the energy crisis in Syria “within a short time” because “the crisis is cumulative.”
Follow-up sources said that Damascus is counting on the increasing rapprochement in its relations with Arab countries to resolve the oil derivatives crisis. In statements on the sidelines of his participation in the “Russian Energy Week” forum in Moscow, Minister Bassam Tohme expressed his hope that “the breakthroughs in relations between Arab countries will help in restoring the energy sector,” stressing that there are no effective steps from the Arab countries in this regard. trend.
