Subsequently, ISNA reported that “some news websites reported on (Al-Manar) information about Assad being subjected to an assassination attempt, but no such news was received on Al-Manar website, and the official Syrian News Agency (SANA) also did not mention anything of this.” kind.”

In turn, the government’s Mehr news agency reported that the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan described the published news about the failed assassination attempt as “rumour”, and accused opponents of the Syrian regime of “manipulating the (image) of the news tape” circulating about the incident.
