French diplomat to Asharq Al-Awsat: Russia and Iran do not want a Syrian settlement

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, the French Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nicolas de Riviere, expressed his “pessimism” about the situation in Syria, describing the political and constitutional process as a “joke.” He considered that the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was “obstinate”, calling on “Arabia” from the Russians and Iranians to pressure him, because if they believe in 100 percent of a military victory, they are “wrong.”
