Today, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, will deliver the annual royal speech before the Saudi Shura Council, in which he deals with the country’s internal and foreign policy, during his opening of the work of the third year of the eighth session of the Council – via video communication – as announced by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council, Saturday.
Al-Sheikh stressed that the annual royal speech is a source of pride for the Shura Council and an occasion it looks forward to every year, pointing out that the royal speech carries important contents and messages that renew the consultative process, and enhance the council’s work platform in discussing and studying all topics that fall under its powers and competencies.
The Speaker of the Shura Council added that the Council is receiving the attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Crown Prince, Prince Muhammad bin Salman, through their continuous and continuous support to the Council, which confirms the confidence of the Saudi leadership in the Shura Council and its role as a partner in decision-making, as a house of expertise in enhancing the work of state agencies and an important station. Al-Sheikh explained that the Shura Council, during its second year, worked through its fifteen specialized committees to meet with officials, discuss the content of the annual performance reports of their bodies, and perceive the challenges posed in its reports that require including the recommendations of the committee. During the work of the second year of the eighth session of the Council, the Council held 53 sessions, according to its Chairman, who indicated that 396 decisions had been issued, and discussions were held for 210 reports of government agencies, in which the Council issued its decisions after reflection and study.
The head of the Saudi Shura pointed out that the second year of the current session bore achievements related to parliamentary diplomacy through the implementation of more than 34 official participations and visits, and the parliamentary friendship committees held 44 meetings with their counterparts in parliamentary councils or diplomats in Saudi Arabia, in support of the efforts, and clarification The Kingdom’s view of many current regional and international issues.
