Two men facing charges of impersonating US federal agents and attempting to infiltrate the security service guarding President Joe Biden and his wife are being investigated for possible links with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, while the US attorney general announced that one of the detainees “has admitted a connection to Pakistani intelligence.”
And the US authorities arrested the Iranian Arin Taherzadeh (40 years) and Pakistani Haider Ali (35 years), who are American citizens, on Wednesday evening in their residence in a luxury building near the Capitol building in Washington.
The Secret Service suspended four of its agents on suspicion of taking bribes. “Haider Ali has confessed before witnesses that he has ties to the ISI,” Attorney General Joshua Rothstein said on Friday morning.
For its part, CBS News reported that investigators are looking into the possibility that the accused have links to Iranian intelligence, including the Quds Force in the Revolutionary Guards.
