Heiner said in a press conference today, Sunday: “Honorary President Uli Hoeness and I spoke with Hamidic and it was last Thursday, in order for them to have enough time to deal with the situation, and also out of respect for these two great personalities.”

And while the talks with Hamidic went very well, the conversation itself with Kahn “was nervous, and we couldn’t part amicably.”

“As a result, we called an extraordinary meeting of the supervisory board on Friday, through which we made the decision that he will not come with us to Cologne,” Heiner added.

Minutes before the press conference, Kahn wrote a tweet in which he stated: “The claim that I went into a fit of anger when I was informed about my dismissal was definitely not true.”

Kahn added that the conversation “was calm and matter-of-fact” and that he accepted the decision calmly; But he questioned the timing of the decision. He wrote: “Saturday morning I was informed that I would not be able to go to the match. I also accepted the decision calmly. Of course I am sad; But I am very happy about winning the title.”

Reporters were initially told he would miss the match in Cologne due to a cold, but on Saturday he tweeted that the club would not allow him to be with the players.

Regarding the return of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the former CEO who replaced Kahn in 2021, Hainer said that the club “will work closely with him again, and that he will be proposed to join the supervisory board next Tuesday.”
