At least 5 people were killed, in a double shooting attack carried out by a Palestinian, yesterday evening, in the predominantly religious Jewish city of Bnei Brak, east of Tel Aviv.
The Israeli police said that the operation, which was the third in 8 days (after the Beersheba and Hadera operations), was carried out in a manner that indicated professional military training, like the previous two operations, as he attended the attacker with an M16 rifle and a very large amount of ammunition.
According to preliminary information, the perpetrator came on a motorcycle and started shooting in one location, wounding 3 people in one location, and then proceeding to a different location, where he injured two people. When he tried to move to another location, he hit a police force, who shot and killed him. It was announced that the five injured people died of their injuries.
Preliminary information indicates that the perpetrator of the attack was Dhiaa Hamrasheh (27 years old), from the town of Ya’bad, west of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held an emergency meeting with the participation of the leaders of the security services and the Ministers of Defense and Internal Security to discuss ways to prevent other operations.
