In interview with CNN In this quarter-feira (25), the National Secretary of Public Security, Tadeu Alencar, says that the federal government will make an effort to reapproximate the security forces, “which are very politicized.”
All the state secretaries of Public Security were invited to a meeting with the federal government, in which Tadeu Alencar and the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, participated in the fifth fair (26).
Second or secretary, or objective is to establish “a national, inter-federal and cooperative dialogue” as the state secretaries. “Respecting the competition between the two states, the Union can have an articulating role of national policy, but it is necessary to have an intensive dialogue”, he said.
Alencar stressed that the issue should not divide public agents. “We have political issues that must be put aside to deal with public safety.”
To recall the criminal acts during the attack on the Three Powers on January 8, the secretary said that it was “a savagery never seen in Brazilian history.” And he claimed to prove that the security breach occurred among those who were in the command.
“The same policeman who, on the 1st, made an exemplary public security during his possession, under another command and guidance, allowed these unfortunate events to happen,” said Alencar.
He said that the responsibility of two public agents on the acts will be determined individually, but he said that it is possible to recognize the ex-secretary of Public Security of the Federal District (DF), Anderson Torres, as two responsible.
“It is evident that there are vulnerabilities in the performance model of the security forces of the DF [no dia 8 de janeiro]. It was enough that the secretary was not there fulfilling his role to cause this fragility”, falou. And he also said that it is the responsibility of the Union to think of mechanisms and models of insurance that allow the improvement of the insurance scheme in the DF.
When questioned about the statements of ex-president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) that relates the decrease in the number of homicides with the greater access to weapons that his government facilitated, Alencar denied the relationship. And he said that the reduction of violence was to be seen as a result of measures adopted in previous governments, at the performance of two states, and also as a moment of pandemic.
He said that the two measures adopted by Public Security during Bolsonaro’s term were the release of weapons and the politicization of the police. “Our vision is completely different from that of the Bolsonaro government on security,” he said.
Alencar falou that the federal government should bet on the binomial: qualified repression and social prevention, which he considers “a great key to the adequate confrontation of violence in Brazil.”
