Tax reform must be voted in Câmara in July, says rapporteur

The rapporteur of the tax reform in Câmara, deputy Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), affirmed in this terça-feira (6), that the voting of the text in plenary must take place in the first week of July.

Contrary to the expectations of the Executive and his own president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), to vote on the measure still this month.

The substitute for Propostas de Emenda à Constituição (PECs) 45 and 110 — the text of the reform itself — must be presented when the date of the discussion in plenary is defined.

The report presented proposes the implementation of a dual Value Added Tax (VAT), divided between a federal tax and another state and municipal tax. Likewise, the current IPI, PIS, Cofins, ICMS, and ISS would be replaced.

Optimism for the vote

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), spoke in an interview with CNN This second fair (5) will be aligned with the government due to the need for the tax reform to be voted in plenary session of the House during the first semester.

The coordinator of the Grupo de Trabalho (GT) of the tax reform in Câmara, deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG), spoke in an interview with CNN at this terça-feira to project 400 votes in favor of matters in the plenary session of the House.

“This is a structuring action for the Brazilian State, therefore I would bet on 400 votes in the plenary session of the Câmara”, he said.

Reginaldo Lopes highlighted or supported two presidents of the Legislative Houses, Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG) to measure, as well as the leadership of the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad.
