The final season of the series “Succession”, on HBO, begins this Sunday (26), once again addressing a complicated family dynamic about wealth and power.
She stars Brian Cox as Logan Roy, the patriarch of the multi-billion-dollar Roy family, don of a Waystar Royco media conglomerate.
Their children, played by Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin and Alan Ruck, are fighting not only for control of the company, but, perhaps, for their love and admiration as well.
TO CNN I talked with the actors at the beginning of this week in the city of New York, where we will answer our questions about the new season.
Tom and Shiv will we finish once?
Matthew Macfadyen, who plays Tom Wambsgans, spoke about his character’s decision to warn Logan about his sons’ revolt.
“I mean I didn’t really desert. I may have made a calculating decision to stick with my son-in-law, or scarier of all, I guess. I read a lot, you know, from everyone, then it was a kind of betrayal a thousand times”, ponderou Macfadyen.
However, he is confused about the future of Tom and Shiv, saying that the house is “in a (place) a little dark… it is sad.”
Or what will Greg do?
Nicholas Braun, who plays Greg Hirsch, or “outsider” in the relationships of the series, ended the last season finally learning the rules of the Roy family game. But what isso means for the future of him?
“You’re going to chat with some people,” Braun jumped in. “Greg would like to never chat with anyone, but he plays the wrong way sometimes. I wish that at the end of the third season it will be on the right side of things. I already know the answer, but I’m not saying it for you”, he pointed out.
Braun added that “the dynamics are muted” and believes that Greg is “in a good position” at the start of the season, as well as his ally Tom.
“You know, things will change with (Tom) and Shiv, and he is my free. He is drawing me together; We are on the best side now that it seems something like ‘we can never lose’”, he said.
“And being aligned with Logan is a winning game, you know? Acho that we are all feeling very good and, of course, isso going to give mer ** ”, complemented her.
A reconciliation for Logan Roy and his children?
O man no centro do drama, Cox, says that, now it seems that Logan has total disdain for his children, that is not the case.
“He’s not going to play—they’re not there. Você knows, he is far away. There was a point where he could have done this. I wish he is very sad because he lost you, in a way, and they are his children, and I always love you. Essa é a questão”, pontuou
Cox also stated that, early in the series, he asked breeder Jesse Armstrong if the boy Logan loved his children.
“He said: ‘Ah, yes, he loves him. He really loves his children. So it was always the best for me”, he said.
“But I’m also the heel of Achilles from Logan. The fate of his children will love us in a way that he cannot express… Love is complicated”, ponderou.
Or future of Lukas Matsson and Waystar Royco?
Alexander Skarsgård, or controversial tech CEO, is back. The end of the 3rd season left a merger of his company, to GoJo, and Waystar Royco “on the table”, but Matsson offered to buy the company.
“I will guarantee that I can do it or impossible”, says Skarsgård about his character. “I wish it became a personal challenge to see (him) manage to do it – rather than acquiring another company and barely more wealth… it was like thinking ‘it must be impossible for a small programmer from Stockholm, Sweden, to do it.’ That’s why he wants it,” he observed.
Spin-offs on the go?
Those who expect more from the world of “Succession” after the conclusion of the series, prepare to have their dreams frustrated.
Asked about a potential new series with familiar faces from “Succession,” Armstrong said: “I wish there would never be a spin-off.”
“I’m glad I’m interested in something that I can occupy or even take on the show that I’ve been very receptive to pampering the guy that I like to write,” he explained.
“Perhaps there is something intertwined that has the same world tom… I am going to throw a little bit of folga and I have been a great fair to fight. So it will take a while.”
