An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 struck the northwest of Iran near the border with Turkey last Saturday (28), killing at least three people and injuring more than 300, informed the state media.
The official news agency Irna reported the number of victims, citing the chef two emergency services of the university in the city of Khoy, near the epicenter of the earthquake.
An emergency official told state TV that it was snowing in some of the affected areas, with freezing temperatures and some reported power outages.
Large geological faults cross the Irã, which has suffered several devastating earthquakes in recent years.
