The Supreme Federal Court (STF) must decide, no sooner than April 20, an action that can correct the values of the Time of Service Guarantee Fund (FGTS) based on a monetary correction index measured by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The Ação Directa de Inconstitutionalidade will have Minister Roberto Barroso as rapporteur.

Currently, the law in force determines that the balance of accounts linked to the FGTS must be corrected by the Referential Tax (TR), now at 0.048% per year, plus 3% by law.

The action asks for the value to be corrected based on an inflation index, such as the IPCA or INPC — or that it can generate a billionaire rhombus in the public accounts.
