Singer Celine Dion is spending several days touring Europe after the recent diagnosis of a rare neurological disorder that does not allow her to “sing like I’m used to,” she announced.
The superstar has rigid person syndrome, which affects “something like one in a thousand people”, said Dion in an exciting video at the Quinta-feira (7), posted on her verified Instagram account.
“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, now we know that it’s what’s causing all the spasms I’ve had,” she says. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect all aspects of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties in walking and not allowing me to use my vocal chords to sing as I am used to.”
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, rigid person syndrome is a rare and progressive disease that affects the nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord.
“Symptoms can include extreme muscle stiffness and stiffness and painful spasms in the trunk and limbs, seriously impairing mobility,” says the institute. “The spasms can generate enough force to fracture the bone. “Specific treatments” will improve the symptoms, but not cure or disturbance.
Dion was mourning with his health for a while, he said, adding that he had a large team of medical professionals to support his children.
“I am working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to regain my strength and my performance abilities again,” she says. “But I have to admit that it was a fight.”
The winner of the Grammy said that she sings everything or that she knows – or that she loves.
“I feel such a lack,” she says. “I feel the lack of seeing all your voices, being in the box, showing up for your voices. I always give 100% when I do my shows, but my condition doesn’t allow me to do that now.”
They have “hope that she is not on the road to recovery”, she says. “Esse é o meu foco.”
She thanked her followers for her “encouraging wishes of love and support of social media”.
“Isso means a lot to me,” Dion concluded her message in tears. “Take care of yourself. Be fine. I love your voices very much and I really hope to be able to see them again soon.”
Dion’s spring 2023 shows will be rescheduled for 2024 and late summer 2023 will be cancelled, disse or post.
