The Russian Embassy in Germany confirmed, at this fourth fair (25), that Berlim’s decision to approve the delivery of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine meant that the country was abandoning its “historical responsibility towards Russia”, as a result of two Nazi crimes in World War II.
In a forceful statement, the embassy says that the deliveries of tanks will raise the conflict to a new level and a “permanent escalation”.
“This extremely dangerous decision raises the conflict to a new level of confrontation and contradicts the statements of German politicians about the reluctance of the Federal Republic of Germany in getting involved in it,” said Ambassador Sergei Nechayev.
“This destroys the remnants of mutual trust, causes irreparable damage to the already deplorable state of Russian-German relations and casts doubts on the possibility of their normalization in the near future,” he added.
For months kyiv has been asking for Western tanks, which it says it desperately needs to give its forces firepower and mobility to break Russian defensive lines and recapture occupied territories to the east and south.
Russia declared that these weapons will hardly prolong the war and the suffering of Ukraine, and that the West is “illusioned” to think otherwise.
“The Berlim school means the final refusal of the Federal Republic of Germany to recognize its historical responsibility towards us for the terrible and timeless crimes of Nazism during the Great Patriotic War, and the outline of the difficult path of post-war reconciliation between Russians and Germans ”, Nechayev said.
“With the approval of the German leadership, the battle tanks with German crosses will once again be sent to the ‘eastern front’, which will inevitably lead to death not only Russian soldiers, but also the civilian population.”
