The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) affirmed, in this fourth fair (25), that “the relations between state chefs do not have ideological viés”. The statement was made by the Uruguayan president, Luis Lacalle Pou, before Lula’s visit to José Mujica, former Uruguayan leftist leader.
“The ex-presidents and the presidents do not need to think like us. They don’t need to like me from a personal point of view. What I say to all the presidents is that the relationship between two heads of state seeks to respect the sovereignty of each country and do well for the poor”, said Lula.
Lula traveled to Uruguay this fourth, on the first international trip of his third term. At the second fair (23), the president met with the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, in Buenos Aires.
At the third fair (24), Lula met the leader of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel. On social networks, the Brazilian president published a photo next to Díaz-Canel with the caption: “O Brazil restoring its diplomatic relations in the world”.
