    Number of deaths after earthquake in Turkey and Syria exceeds 6,000

    At least 6,326 people died in Turkey and Syria after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that reached the region on the second fair (6).

    The number of deaths rose to 4,544 in Turkey on the afternoon of this third fair, where 10 provinces were affected, according to the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Management Agency (Afad).

    The number of deaths in Syria is greater than 1,782: more than 970 people were killed in areas controlled by the opposition, according to the Capacetes Brancos da Síria, also known as Civil Defense of Syria.

    In the areas controlled by the government, the number of deaths is 812, according to the state news agency SANA.

    Only 30,474 people were injured in our two countries, according to the Turkish government, two White Capacetes and the Syrian state media.

    About 23 million may be affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, says WHO

    The World Health Organization (WHO) says that about 23 million people may be affected by the strong earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey in the second fair (6), leaving more than 5,000 dead and thousands injured.

    “The general maps of events show that potentially 23 million people are exposed, including about 5 million vulnerable populations, with more than 350,000 disabled and 1.4 million children,” said WHO senior emergency officer Adelheid Marschang. , at a meeting of the executive council of the United Nations Health Agency (UN) in Geneva.

    The chef of the WHO expressed his concern with the situation, calling it a “run against the tempo”.

    “We are especially concerned with the areas where we still do not have information,” says Tedros Adhanom, director-general of the WHO. “Damage mapping is a way to understand where we need to focus our attention”.

    Images two rescue efforts in both countries will emerge at the second fair, with relatives mourning the loss of loved ones, while others eat or find survivors in the rubble of destroyed buildings.
