O President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) say goodbye, once again, to China. The recommendation is that you take the trip until the cycle of viral transmission is closed after you have been diagnosed with mild pneumonia in Quinta-feira (23).
In interview with CNN On Saturday (25), a pneumologist and researcher from Fiocruz, explained that it is quite common today to verify the association of viral infections, of respiratory transmission, preceding a bacterial infection.
“Specialists are very used to seeing this, especially in older people. President Lula is not a young man, he is a 76-year-old man, who has some very heavy agenda situations. He was infected with a viral infection – which was detected by the influenza A virus – and he is receiving anti-viral drugs, ”he explains.
She explained that, after disso, I had a bacterial contamination, or it sounds like a bacterial pneumonia. “In general, it is caused by a fairly common bacterium — or pneumococcus — and is sensitive to drugs, so we expect that there will be more of a case in a desperate patient.”
Regarding the rest and the suspension of the trip, Dalcomo clarifies that, as a specialist, he would have taken the same recommendation. “I am sorry that colleagues who opted, with the president’s consent, for the best, or if he wishes, avoid a long trip, with a 12-hour time zone difference, which requires an adaptation.”
According to her, when the organism begins to adapt, it is time to return. “A minimum recommendation would be to allow yourself to travel for a few weeks, and not just for a week or 10 days. The maintenance of the treatment for the necessary time, on average, goes from seven to 10 days”, explains the pneumologist.
