The Federal Justice in Sergipe authorized the NGO Salvar to act legally in the manufacture of cannabis-based medicines in the fourth fair (22). Judge Ronnivon de Aragão authorized “the cultivation, handling, or preparation, production, storage, or transportation, dispensation and research of cannabis sativa for exclusively medicinal purposes.”
“I stress that the importation of cannabis sativa is not being authorized here, at least for now, considering that a measure of this nature involves various bodies of the Public Administration and the structure and airport surveillance, being prudent, at this time, to restrict authorization” , explained the magistrate.
The Federal Justice is also incumbent on the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) for the supervision of the NGO. Within 60 days, the organization must present a plan of action “fixing in a clear, objective and exhaustive way, the auditing criteria of the authoring Association and control of its activities, in order to maintain a regular pattern of production, so much so that It says respect to the quality of two products in relation to the quantity manufactured, to the transport of the plants between their place of cultivation and processing”.
Anvisa is also responsible for adopting a routine of periodic audits, “making a comparison between the production capacity of the Association and what is, in fact, being produced by it, to avoid excesses”, determined the judge.
The request for urgent guardianship was filed by the Brazilian Association for the Support of the Cultivation and Research of Medicinal Cannabis (ONG Salvar), which is a non-profit association for the support of cultivation and research, with 200 members.
At the request, the lawyer Paulo Thiessen declared that the situation is “direct to health and social care of the highest humanitarian degree in favor of both the current associates of the author, as well as two future ones, bearers of documents whose control or not possible without use of products based on Cannabis”.
“All the associations of Brazil can only supply oil. People asked that this not be authorized, but also flowers, that it is part of the cannabis that is used, eaten, and also extracts. It is much broader in the relationship between doctor and patient. It is something new and unprecedented”, declared the lawyer of the NGO à CNN.
