As airfryers sell on the market with the promise of providing a healthier diet that would exclude frying in oil on a daily basis for people. But is she really more saudável assim?
To CNN Portugal, specialist Daniela Duarte shot some doubts about the appliance that is a fever in the kitchens around the world. The nutritionist indicates that, using it in moderation, the airfryer is a healthier option during the holidays.
According to Daniela, if the food comes for the plate without being immersed in the fat of the traditional frying, it is automatically a healthier food.
“Isso makes the total energy value of the meal smaller, or it seems, with fewer calories. There are no reasons to stop using it, even because we cannot ignore that it is a piece of equipment that I have seen very practical in the kitchen”, he explains.
Is it true that the Airfryer can cause cancer?
A specialist also throws doubts on this matter and the answer is: no.
According to some investigations, the airfryer could release, eventually, a substance considered carcinogenic. In the meantime, the substance is not on the appliance, and just eat at a high temperature when preparing it. Being like this, the “fault” is due to the temperature count and does not give the airfryer by itself.
“Acrylamide is a substance present in foods rich in amides, sugars and amino acids when prepared at temperatures above 120ºC, noting that above 180ºC other compounds develop that are harmful to health”, she explained.
The problem can occur in electric ovens, tostadeiras, frigideiras, and that’s why. So, according to the nutritionist, the trick is to know how to use it: avoid eating roasted foods, avoid preparing pre-fried or pre-cooked meals, clean the appliance frequently, and avoid using temperatures above 175ºC.
