A group of indigenous people and activists carry out today (4) an act called “Caminhada Pela Vida”, with the intention of demonstrating against the time frame and the approval of PL 490/07, which is being processed by the National Congress. Initially, the action would take place in Rodovia dos Bandeirantes, but Justice of São Paulo prohibited the non-local protest.
The Comissão Guarani Yvyrupa (CGY), an indigenous organization that brings together collectives of the Guarani people from the South and Southeast regions of Brazil, has come to disseminate or join their social networks. They would promote a walk to Rodovia dos Bandeirantes. According to them, the initiative would resume the demonstration interrupted by the police on the terça (30).
The Justice of São Paulo prohibited the realization of the walk on the Rodovia dos Bandeirantes in the decision made during the sit-in court on Saturday (3). According to the rapporteur Maria Lúcia Pizzotti, if the protesters break the order, they will be fined 20 thousand reais.
Justiça understood that the demonstration could not prevent the movement of people and would not place the physical integrity of two participants at risk.
“It is important to note that the right of demonstration of any city is not being denied, constitutionally guaranteed, but only that it be exercised in an adequate place and that it offers a security condition both to the protesters and to the population that uses the place in which the demonstration will be held, or that it would not happen if a demonstration was carried out not locally as intended”, argued the rapporteur.
After a decision, the organizers will decide to alter the venue of the demonstration. The group met in the morning in Vila Clarice, in the northern area of the capital of São Paulo, on the road to Pico do Jaraguá.
The Military Police accompanies or percurses.
The corporation informed that it is in the region to guarantee road mobility and security for those involved.
