The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, participated as a guest of honor in a meeting with members of Fiesp (Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo), in São Paulo.
He did not find, he said that the focus of the ministry’s agenda, in the short term, is to work for the approval of a new fiscal arcabouço, to review the credit system in Brazil and tax reform after resuming congressional activities.
Haddad accredits a favorable climate for discussing the issue with parliamentarians, without delays, after the elections of the boards of directors. The intention is to provide alterations in taxation on consumption, without altering or Simple, in the first part of the reform. In the second semester other topics will be treated.
He also affirmed that he bets on reindustrialization with the use of clean sources of energy, a marriage of fiscal and monetary policies for a rebalancing of variables that will improve economic development and strengthen the participation of Brazil in Mercosul.
The president of Fiesp, Josué Gomes, asked that the government immediately review the collection of IPI (Tax on Industrialized Products) and the immediate depreciation of investment within the transformation industry.
For Gomes, less taxes will help the growth and more generation of jobs. He claimed that the sector of transformation spanned the last 40 years and said that businessmen will support tax reform that allows or fights higher Selic tax and higher bank spreads in the country than compared to other competing countries in the industrial sector.
Besides the minister, the executive secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Gabriel Galipolo, Eduardo Eugênio, president of Firjan, vice-presidents of Fiesp, councillors, directors, union presidents and guests will participate in the event.
The meeting took place five days after the disclosure of a joint note of pacification between the current and former president of FIESP, Paulo Skaf, after an internal dispute by the command of the Federation that questioned the mandate of Josué Gomes. Skaf also participated in the meeting.
In addition to the event at Fiesp, the minister had a meeting with the president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, who manhã and promised that he would fend off demands for reforms in the credit system, including the use of PIX as a fiduciary tool as of mid second year
