The Minister of Planning and Orçament, Simone Tebet, said in this fourth fair (22) that the presentation of the proposal for the new tax refund should lead to the reduction of the Selic — basic legal tax of the Brazilian economy, which is currently at 13.75% .
In an interview with Rádio Capital 95, from Campo Grande, the minister said that “the tax will be returned for good”, and at the next meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom), which should take place in early May, the tax will be reduced.
“Only present the arcabouço and sele for bom, isso já vai permitir os juros comecem cair. As the oaths fall, it means that everything will be cheaper in the supermarket and the productive sector will have loans at lower oaths”, said the minister.
In the meeting of this fourth fair (22), the expectation is that Copom will keep Selic in the current leg. However, the statement from the Central Bank’s board of directors will be able to indicate two future movements of the basic tax rate.
The decision of the Committee will be disclosed after the date of the operations of the stock market in this fourth.
This third (21), in an interview with TV 247, the president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) criticized Selic once again at 13.75% and declared that “it will continue beating” the Central Bank.
Over the last few weeks, the efforts of Lula and the political side have focused on criticizing the oaths. At the same time, at this terça-feira (21), protests were registered at the headquarters of the Central Bank in São Paulo and Brasília, in an attempt to put pressure on the economic authority, which is autonomous.
