The billionaire donated by Tesla, Elon Musk, accused Twitter of fraud. Musk stated that the social media company destroyed the main metrics about users on its platform as a condition of its business, before agreeing to acquire the company for US$44 billion in April.
Musk said in a response made public in Quinta-Feira (4) that he decided to rescind the merger agreement or to take knowledge of what he believed were worrying facts. He cites, for example, the daily media reaffirmation of monetized Twitter users days after signing the agreement.
And that Twitter was supposedly incorrectly counting the number of false and spam accounts.
“The own disclosures of Twitter to the parties show that, on Twitter, there are now 238 million ‘monetized daily active users’, the users who actually see ads (and, therefore, would be reasonably considered ‘monetized’) are about 65 million to except what Twitter represents”, said Musk in a judicial proceeding.
The president of the council of Twitter, Bret Taylor, said in a tweet in the fifth that Musk’s allegations “are factually inaccurate, legally insufficient and commercially irrelevant.”
He also stated that the company awaits with expectation or trial of the case in Delaware, which is scheduled for October 17.
