The National Index of Consumption of the Brazilian Lares of the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (Abras) registered a rise of 3.02% in October. The highest increase in non-year consumption is an approximate indicator of the cumulative growth throughout the past year (3.04%).
The projection of the association for 2022 is of growth from 3% to 3.3%.
In October, there was a rise of 8.1%, not consumption in relation to the same month of 2021. In comparison with September 2022, the rise was 6.27%.
The advance payment of social benefits for the second and third weeks of October (11 to 10/25) contributes, second to Abras, for the increase in US consumption.
All the indicators are deflated by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), measured by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
“It is remarkable how much or increase in the value of Auxílio Brasil and the constant inclusion of beneficiaries in conditions of social vulnerability will expand food consumption in the second semester and, more expressively, in October. These resources will increase the consumption close to the accumulated patamar throughout 2021 and, if maintained, they must help the families with less purchasing power to supply their homes”, analyzes the Institutional vice-president of Abras, Márcio Milan.
