One day before a military aircraft from the United States shot down an alleged Chinese spyball on the country’s Atlantic coast on Saturday, the Colombian military confirmed the presence of an aerial object resembling a ballon flying over its territory.
The Colombian Air Force issued a statement on Saturday providing limited details about a possible balloon that its air defense system located on the sixth fair day.
Two US military authorities revealed at the sixth fair (3) that another Chinese gun was sighted somewhere in Latin America, but they did not specify its location.
According to the statement from the Colombian Air Force, an “object” was detected over its territory at an altitude of about 17 thousand meters that had entered the airspace of the South American country to the north moving at an average speed of 25 nos.
The statement added that the object exhibited “characteristics similar to that of a ball” and that the Air Force or monitor was out of the country’s airspace.
“I was determined that it did not represent a threat to national security,” added the statement.
Not yet another official confirmation of unidentified balloons flying over other Latin American countries, was issued on Sunday.
In the last few days, not so long, reports of the observation of balls were made in Venezuela and in Costa Rica by various users of social media.
The saga of the Chinese spy ball shot down on the US coast captured public attention for days and was widely seen as a worsening in relations between the US and China.
