At least 10 children died this Sunday (29) when a ship carrying students from a religious school sailed to the northwest of Pakistan, authorities said.
Nearby eight students are still missing, while seven injured were taken to the hospital, according to the local authorities in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the accident occurred.
The Kohat district commissioner, Mahmood Aslam, said that about 50 students from a local religious school would meet by Lake Tanda for a picnic.
Twenty five will venture into the water – which was dated by the authorities for recreational walks – in a boat that virou, he said.
The students who will die will be between seven and 12 years old, according to a list released to Reuters by the commissioner.
He said that Pakistani military rescuers were assisting our rescue and recovery efforts. Video footage from local broadcasters and media partners will show rescue teams in the water.
The accident occurred on the same day as another unrelated accident, when a bus did not leave Pakistan and fell off a bridge and killed more than 40 people.
