Brazilians or foreigners who enter Brazil do not need to present proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test. The decision is made by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), which has communicated the removal to airport operators, border posts and airlines.
The end of the obligation to submit two documents appears in a technical note, published by Anvisa on May 23.
According to the regulatory agency, the decision was taken before the end of the health emergency of international importance, announced by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the beginning of May.
“This scenario made it possible to determine that Covid-19 is now an established and ongoing health problem, no longer constituting an International Public Health Emergency (ESPII). In this way, Brazil will stop requiring travelers of international origin to verify vaccination against Covid-19 or present negative test results, as well as the implementation by the administrators of passenger terminals and operators of means of transport of preventive measures and mitigação da ença”, says note.
Anvisa also affirms that the recommendations of non-pharmacological measures for the prevention and control of Covid-19, and the notification and response to suspected or confirmed cases, must be maintained.
