The presentation of the final project for the metrobus connection between Rotunda da Boavista and Praça do Império, in Porto, scheduled for this Monday, marks the start of works on the line. Work should start this week.
It is scheduled for 3.30 pm this Monday, at Casa da Música, in Porto, the presentation of the project for the fast bus connection between Rotunda da Boavista and Praça do Império. The line’s design and construction contract was signed at the end of March last year, for around 25 million euros, with the companies Alberto Couto Alves and Alves Ribeiro. Funding will be provided by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and amounts to 66 million euros, excluding VAT.
The start of work is scheduled for this week, with the first phase expected to intervene on the south side of Avenida do Marechal Gomes da Costa.
It should be remembered that, last December, Metro do Porto launched a public tender for the acquisition of green hydrogen buses that should operate this line, with a base price of 23.45 million euros. The route includes stops at Casa da Música, Guerra Junqueiro, Bessa, Pinheiro Manso, Serralves, João de Barros and Império. Details will be released this afternoon, at the final project presentation session.
An extension of the connection to Matosinhos is also planned, adding the stations Antunes Guimarães, Garcia de Orta, Nevogilde, Castelo do Queijo, and Praça Cidade do Salvador (Anémona).
STCP will operate the service and not Metro do Porto, as already announced by the mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira.
