Will joining NATO save Ukraine from war: Zhdanov answered whether it is worth counting on the help of allies

At the same time, the expert expressed the opinion that the Alliance may turn out to be “paper” when it is necessary to act.

After Ukraine joins NATO, allied countries will be obliged to fight on the side of Ukraine against Russia.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov said this told December 7.

“NATO is a collective obligation, an alliance obligation, which obliges the member states of this bloc to fight for their ally not on their territory, but on his territory,” Zhdanov noted.

At the same time, the expert expressed the opinion that the Alliance could turn out to be “paper” or “give a crack at the wrong moment”.

However, even if several NATO member countries confirm the fulfillment of their obligations, it will be easier for our country to defeat the aggressor.

“If they (NATO member countries – ed.) give their troops, the economies of these countries will be pulled up behind these troops. We will have the opportunity to use the reserves of these countries in terms of weapons and ammunition, personnel, etc. In any case, we will fight with the allies much easier,” Zhdanov noted.

Earlier it was reported that 20 out of 30 NATO member countries have exhausted their resources for supplying weapons to Ukraine. And 10 countries, including Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands, can transfer weapons to Ukraine.
