Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said he has no plans to impose sanctions on Russia and will oppose it as much as he can. Although Belgrade suffers great losses from this.
He said this on the air of the channel “First”, the newspaper writes nspm.rs.
The price we pay is huge, we have no access to the capital market, when there is no access to the capital market, it is impossible to service our loans … They say: “Vucic announces the introduction of sanctions” – no, we will fight as hard as we can. “We are very tolerant of not imposing sanctions on Russia, but we are doing it because we are an independent country,” Vucic said.
The Serbian president also added that he was “preserving the country’s territorial integrity”. “We are suffering greatly from the non-imposition of sanctions against Russia. We would live ten times better if we introduced it. I will preserve the territorial integrity of Serbia,” the Serbian leader said.
It will be recalled that in late February, the Serbian authorities refused to impose sanctions against Russia, which attacked Ukraine. Instead, in response to Russian aggression, a number of countries, including the United States, Canada, Britain, the EU, Japan, and others, imposed unprecedented economic and personal sanctions against Moscow.
On February 24, Russia attacked Ukraine, inflicting a series of missile and air strikes on our cities, including Kiev. The large-scale invasion has been going on for 81 days (8 years of war). The occupiers continue to destroy Ukrainian villages, towns and cities with cruise missiles and air bombs, killing civilians and destroying infrastructure.
