Warriors hold a third of Bakhmut under continuous fire: the city is shot through

In all of Bakhmut, there is not even a couple of square meters where any structures would remain intact.

Bakhmut defends himself and counterattacks. The soldiers destroy the Russians with howitzers and mortars, endure constant infantry assaults and airstrikes, take the occupiers prisoner and conduct local counterattacks around the city. All this – at an incredibly high price, under constant enemy fire, says TSN.

In Donetsk region along the entire front line and for more than three dozen kilometers in the operational Ukrainian rear, almost everywhere there are no safe places left.

For several weeks in a row, aerial scouts of the “Charter”, a member of the 127th ground defense brigade, fly around Bakhmut every morning, looking for the enemy and ways to the city. There are many roads there, the soldiers say, but finding a completely safe route is almost impossible. All trails are a real lottery with maximum stakes. “During the day, almost constantly and at night – too! Closer to the morning, there is a corridor of silence. Well, maybe an hour or two. And then again. A lot of shelling! A lot! 152nd! Mortars are hitting – tanks are hitting. Opposite the house – flew in! There – there! For us, there is a *** here, it is coming straight,” says a fighter of the volunteer unit “Pushkin.

In all of Bakhmut, there is not even a couple of square meters where any structures would remain intact. Here, the ground is plowed with rolling stones, heavy artillery shells and explosions of cluster munitions. “You constantly hear explosions, constantly some sort of arrivals, volleys from MLRS. This is always the case. They do not spare ammunition. They work in full packs and fire very hard,” says a soldier of the “Chartiya” volunteer unit, 127th OBr STrO “Nik” during another shelling.

Broken wires hang over the roads, and along the roads there are burnt and gutted remains of overturned cars. Bullets fly on city roads now more often than vehicles travel. “Almost always a shooting battle with minimal distances. The enemy is at a distance of 50-200 meters. There may be contacts there – 20 meters”, – adds “Boxer

All of Bakhmut is now shot through. “More such, machine gun, automatic fire. The bullets are flying like crazy…”, says Olena, an employee of the aid station in Bakhmut.

It is at this point, for the whole of Bakhmut, where there is electricity, hot food, drinks, medicine and communication. On the other hand, there was almost no possibility left to leave the city, and many civilians, for various personal reasons and motivations, did not dare to evacuate. For such a decision, say the Ukrainian military, they pay a terrible price every day. “Many people who will simply die. They left the house, a mine flew and … People were already lying dead, there on the street, on the road! They die every day,” states “Boxer”.

But the city stands stubbornly, the fighters assure that a third of the city is under their control. Thanks to the titanic efforts of the Ukrainian soldiers, at the cost of many lives of those who should not have perished, the defenders of Bakhmut are holding on, destroying the invaders, gaining time, and even counterattacking. “We all understand why we are here. That’s all. You just have to clench your teeth, hands, and fists and just go forward,” says the Nik fighter.
