    The governor of the Russian region of Belgorod reported “fighting” in this border area with Ukraine.

    A Russian village, near the Ukrainian border, was the scene of fighting on Sunday June 4 after a new incursion by pro-Ukrainian forces, while Moscow continued its campaign of aerial bombardments. Here’s what to remember from this day on the the war in Ukraine.

    “Fighting” in the Belgorod region, civilians called to evacuate

    The Russian army claimed to have repelled a group of fighters with artillery “Ukrainians” who tried to enter “near the locality of Novaya Tavoljanka”, in the border region of Belgorod. “The enemy was hit by artillery”he “scattered and retreated”, according to the army. A little earlier, the governor of the region had reported “fights” in this area after an incursion by pro-Ukrainian forces.

    The governor of the region also called on residents on Sunday to evacuate the bombed areas. The district of Chebekino, a town of 40,000 inhabitants in the Belgorod region, was hit by hundreds of artillery fire which left several dead and forced thousands of civilians to flee this week.

    Girl killed in Russian strike in Dnipro

    An airstrike hit Dnipro in eastern Ukraine on Saturday evening, killing a two-year-old girl, according to Ukrainian authorities. Besides, “22 people were injured, including five children”said the governor of the Dnipro region, Serhiy Lysak. The strike hit two residential buildings, ten houses, a store and a gas line, according to the governor. “Once again, Russia proves that it is a terrorist state”reactedhe Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky.

    Russian strikes against Ukrainian airfields

    Russian airstrikes over Ukraine have intensified in recent weeks. The Russian army claimed to have carried out strikes against Ukrainian military airfields overnight from Saturday to Sunday. “Command Posts” And “Ukrainian aviation equipment” were affected, assured the Russian Ministry of Defense, without giving any indication of the location of these aerodromes.

    On Sunday, Ukrainian authorities also announced that an airfield had been hit by a Russian strike near the town of Kropyvnytskyi in the center of the country. “Six missiles and five attack drones” were launched by Russian forces, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said on television.
