The social network VKontakte set a new record for the audience – in March it increased to 53.6 million people. This was reported in a press release received by Lenta.ru.
Growth, in particular, was facilitated by VK Clips. In January, the service significantly improved the quality of recommendations – they allowed a 30 percent increase in the time that the user spends watching clips (time spent), and the number of views – by 17 percent. In February, views in VK Clips increased by 2.5 times compared to last year, and time spent – by 3.2 times.
The VKontakte feed also continued its massive growth thanks to the development of recommendations. According to the results of January and February 2023, the number of views increased by 46 percent year-on-year. In addition, in the first two months of 2023, the number of comments on the site increased by 43 percent year-on-year, while the number of confirmed friend requests increased by 40 percent year-on-year.
“VKontakte year after year strengthens its position as a leader among social networks. Our audience is actively growing, despite the fact that it already makes up the majority of all Runet users,” said Marina Krasnova, CEO of VKontakte. She explained that this is achieved through the development of key services – VK clips, recommendation algorithms, feeds, personal profiles and communities.
In addition, the authors of VKontakte were able to increase their earnings. In 2022, communities using official monetization tools earned a record 4 billion rubles. Also in 2022, the income of content creators with the help of VK Donut increased 2.9 times – up to 440 million rubles. The number of publics has also increased — in December 2022, the number of active author’s publics reached 2 million. The social network is already used by 86 percent of the entire Runet audience on a monthly basis.
