The Brazilian striker of Real Madrid Vinícius Júnior asked, this Monday, punishments for supporters and clubs for racist acts and mentioned that cases happened in several Spanish cities, releasing a video with the insults he was the target.
“Each game away from home was an unpleasant surprise. And there were many this season. Death wishes, a hanged doll, many criminal screams… All recorded. But the speech always falls into ‘isolated cases’, ‘a fan’. No , they are not isolated cases. They are continuous episodes spread across several cities in Spain”, said the player in a message on social networks, noting that it also happened on a television program.
On Sunday, at Mestalla Stadium, in Valencia, Vinícius, who was sent off after attacking an opponent, right at the end of the game (90+7), which the “Merengues” lost 1-0, criticized the Spanish League and the supporters with a message published on social networks, denouncing new acts of racism.
In recent months, Vinícius, 22, has been the target of several racist insults and other offenses. This Monday, the player decided to release a video to show what happened in several stadiums and asking for punishments.
In about an hour, the video already had more than one and a half million likes, in addition to numerous messages of support for the player.
“What’s missing to criminalize these people? And punish the clubs sportingly? Why don’t sponsors charge La Liga? Don’t televisions bother to broadcast this barbarity every weekend?”, asks the Brazilian international.
The striker, one of the main figures of the Spaniards at Real Madrid, points out that this is a “very serious problem” and that it cannot be solved with announcements, nor by blaming the player to “justify criminal acts”.
“This is not football, it is inhuman”, he concludes.
The situation denounced by “Vini” Júnior led to several reactions, from FIFA to the governments of Brazil and Spain, with the Spanish court announcing the opening of an investigation into the racist insults that the Brazilian was the target of.
Real Madrid has also reported having lodged a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office “for crimes of hatred and discrimination” against the Canarinho international.
