V. Guimarães voted in favor of the rule which provides that coaches who have been part of a team’s rise to the League can remain registered as main players in the following season, even without the necessary qualifications, and in a second year, provided that they prove to be attend the Grade IV course, but lamented the insensitivity of the League and the National Association of Football Coaches (ANTF) towards the situation of Moreno Teixeira, who commands the Victorians.
The rule ratified by the clubs will again apply in 2023/2024 to Luís Freire (Rio Ave) and Filipe Martins (Casa Pia), if they continue at the head of the same clubs, as they are already attending the Grade IV course, but the V. Guimarães regrets that Moreno Teixeira cannot benefit from it because he is not associated with a promotion to the division, since he is also attending level IV.
The club from Guimarães recalls that the coach, who had a career as a player at the highest level, working with highly valued technicians, is clearly linked to a largely positive season for Vitória de Guimarães, which culminated in the club qualifying for a competition in the UEFA and the launch of many young players.
That is why Vitória is “deeply indignant with the lack of sensitivity of the League and the ANTF” in relation to Moreno Teixeira. “Vitoria registers and regrets this strange discriminatory treatment by the bodies that manage Portuguese football and will not give up denouncing and fighting against this type of injustice, in the hope that common sense will prevail, once and for all”, underlines the club minhoto, reinforcing that it will be “always in favor of the approval of norms that make life easier for football professionals, namely Portuguese coaches”.
