Russia wants to use this to evacuate Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied cities to its territory.
Ukraine categorically opposed intentions of the Red Cross to open an office in Rostov-on-Don allegedly for “more efficient work” in eastern Ukraine.
About it in the comment RBC-Ukraine said the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk.
According to her, Russia wants to use this to deport Ukrainians from the temporarily occupied cities to its territory.
We are strongly opposed to the International Red Cross opening an office in Rostov-on-Don. In this way, Russia wants to “sanctify” the so-called “humanitarian corridors” on its territory, and in fact the illegal abduction and deportation of our citizens by the enemy just now “, – said Vereshchuk.
Vereshchuk noted that during the visit to Kyiv the chairman of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer There were no negotiations on the possibility of deporting Ukrainians to the territory of the Russian Federation and opening an ICRC office near the border.
Instead, according to her, the Ukrainian authorities provided humanitarian organizations with evidence of the occupiers’ establishment of filtration camps for abducted residents of Mariupol and other settlements.
Vereshchuk also believes that the Russians could have issued a request to the Red Cross to open an office in Rostov-on-Don, allegedly at the request of the leadership of this organization. At the same time, she noted that the ICRC, due to the actions of the occupiers, currently does not have a full opportunity to fulfill its mandate – to organize real humanitarian corridors and access to prisoners of war.
