The head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, conveyed to his Brazilian counterpart, Celso Amorim, Kiev’s “great interest” in Brazil’s participation in the summit for peace promoted by Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, which could take place in July.
“We are very interested in Brazil’s participation in this summit”, said AndriyYermak about the telephone conversation he had with his Brazilian counterpart, Celso Amorim, disclosed in a statement released this Wednesday by the Ukrainian presidential office.
Yermak told Amorim: “We are ready to talk and it is very important for us to hear your opinion”.
Kiev is working to involve as many countries as possible in a summit that is expected to focus on the so-called Ukrainian Formula of Peace, which includes 10 proposals to end the war in Ukraine.
One of the points is the total withdrawal of Russia from its territory.
Countries like Brazil consider this condition unviable and defend a prior dialogue that contemplates a possible concession of territories by Kiev.
President Zelensky made it clear that countries can commit to supporting only the points of the Formula Peace they agree with.
The Ukrainian document includes priorities such as environmental protection, nuclear security, the return of Ukrainians in Russian captivity and food security threatened by the Russian military invasion.
Zelensky placed special emphasis on including African, Asian and Latin American countries that have opted for equidistance in this war and have good relations with Russia in efforts to achieve results in these areas.
