Ukraine has officially requested Taurus cruise missiles from Germany

Ukraine turned to of Germany with an official request requesting the provision of Taurus cruise missiles to the Ukrainian military.

According to the publication, a request for Taurus deliveries came to Germany from the Ukrainian side in recent days, the spokeswoman of the German Ministry of Defense said in a comment to the publication.

However, she did not name the number of missiles that Ukraine requested.

Publication “Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung” writesthat President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Chancellor Olaf Scholz talked in Berlin about the supply of German missiles to Ukraine in early May.

The Taurus cruise missile is launched from a fighter jet and can deliver a 400-kilogram warhead over 500 kilometers. The missile is the German equivalent of the British Storm Shadow.
