The UAE offered Russia to help with the exchange of prisoners with Ukraine
High-ranking officials of the United Arab Emirates turned to the Russian authorities with a proposal to help the exchange of prisoners with Ukraine. RIA Novosti writes about this, citing a source.
“High-ranking representatives of the UAE, taking into account the current situation in Ukraine, turned to the Russian side with a proposal to assist in the exchange of detainees who were captured,” the agency said in a statement.
Moscow and Kyiv have already made 11 prisoner exchanges. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the exchange is carried out constantly “in one form or another.” The commander of the Vostok battalion of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Alexander Khodakovsky, criticized the practice of exchanging Russian prisoners of war for militants of the Ukrainian Azov. In his opinion, military personnel do not remember politics, when their friends and relatives are captured, they are “overwhelmed by the desire” to save a soldier captured by the enemy at any cost.
