A 35-year-old man died this Sunday after the truck he was driving collided, on the Complementary Route 1 (IC1), in the Ferraria area, in the municipality of Ourique (Beja), revealed Civil Protection and firefighters.
Contacted by the Lusa agency, a source from the Lower Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command explained that the accident, whose alert was given at 7:28 am, occurred at kilometer 649.5 of the IC1.
A source from the Ourique Volunteer Fire Department, also speaking to Lusa, explained that the vehicle was traveling in a south-north direction.
The driver of the heavy goods “is a 35-year-old man”, and the screening took place in the Ferraria area, in the parish of Panóias, added the same source.
“The heavy truck, when it skidded, was between two roads, the IC1 and the National Road 261 (EN261). It stayed on the side”, referred the source of the fire brigade, to explain that there was no need to proceed to cut the traffic in that complementary itinerary.
The body of the mortal victim was transported to the forensic services of the Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja, according to the sub-regional command of Civil Protection.
For the site of the accident, 17 operators were mobilized, supported by seven vehicles, including firefighters, GNR and the National Institute of Medical Emergency, which also activated the emergency medical vehicle and resuscitation (VMER) of Beja.
