“They smoke in unspecified places”: the Ministry of Internal Affairs commented on the explosions on the Crimean Bridge

The department spoke ironically about the event.

The Ukrainian side did not confirm involvement in explosions on the Crimean bridge, that happened on the night of July 17.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, the spokesman of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke briefly about the incident.

“In Crimea, it is currently summer, the holiday season. Because of this, more and more people are smoking in places not designated for this, because of the influx of tourists. That’s why something explodes in them at night. It (the bridge – ed.) could simply be modernized to the level of divorce, for example. Or they repeatedly warned that the soil there is already soft, it is impossible to build such structures there, they will not withstand. There can be many reasons,” he said.

The “Chairman” of Crimea Serhiy Aksyonov reported on the “extraordinary event” on Crimean bridge, in connection with which traffic on it is stopped.

The Ministry of Transport of Russia announced that the road surface was damaged on the spans of the Crimean Bridge. The department stated that the structures of the bridge spans are on their supports, the information about their damage is not true.

There were reports of at least two explosion-like sounds in Crimean pubs at night.

The governor of the Belgorod region of Russia, Vyacheslav Gladkov, confirmed that as a result of the “emergency situation” on the Crimean bridge, a married couple from the region died, and their minor child was hospitalized.

As previously reported, military expert Oleg Zhdanov said that the missiles Tomahawk and ATACMS can destroy the Crimean bridge.
